LinkedIn Profile
Although divorce can be difficult and confusing, Cathy Regier believes in empowering clients to make sound decisions about their futures. Helping them focus on their highest interests, especially children and assets, she encourages clients to participate actively in creating solutions, rather than giving control over to the courts. Cathy supports their involvement by explaining complex legal issues, exchanging information openly, and helping clients feel at ease in discussing their situation.
Cathy understands that individuals want to manage the emotional and financial costs of their family conflict. To that end, she helps clients reach settlement by finding common ground with their spouses and establishing realistic expectations. Agreements that are reasonable, durable and respectful give clients a sense of closure and enable them to move forward with their lives.
Joining Pritchard & Company LLP as an associate in 1994, Cathy became a partner in 2008. Her preferred area of practice is family law—divorce, collaborative divorce, mediation, and adoption. Cathy received her law degree from Queen’s University, and was admitted to the Bar of the Law Society of Alberta in 1993. Cathy is proud of helping to advance family law in Medicine Hat by helping bring the New Ways for Families Program to the area, which is leading to less confrontation and conflict and making divorce easier on children.
